Humana Walmart Prescription Rx Plan – Part D

Humana Walmart Prescription Rx Plan – Part D

Humana and Walmart have teamed up to offer seniors a Humana Walmart-Preferred Rx Plan (PDP) with the lowest premium for a Medicare Part-D prescription drug card in the country.  The premium is only $18.50 a month.  Humana and Walmart can provide momentous savings on your prescription medicine costs.  This plan is available to most Medicare beneficiaries, including seniors and people with disabilities.  Humana is a stand-alone prescription drug plan with a Medicare contract. Other pharmacies are available in network.

“One of the primary goals of health care reform is to make health coverage more affordable – and that’s what we’re doing with the introduction of this low-cost Medicare Part D plan,” said William Fleming, PharmD, vice president of Humana Pharmacy Solutions. “People are more likely to take the medications prescribed for them when they can afford those medications. And adhering to prescription-drug regimens can enable people to be healthier and prevent future illness. At Humana, we believe that this prevention helps people live healthier lives and achieve lifelong well-being.”

This drug card makes a GREAT addition to an affordable Medicare Supplemental Insurance Policy.  Remember if you already have a Medicare Advantage plan, then it will probably already have your Part-D benefits included!

This drug plan covers more than 1500 generic drugs, it was designed with you -the senior in mind, to save you money. You will pay the lowest out-of-pocket when you fill your medications at a Walmart or Sam’s Club store.

There is a $320 Annual deductible for all drug tiers.

  • Tier 1 preferred generic medications are only one dollar co-pay for thirty-day supply at Walmart or Sam’s Club. Incredible as it may seem, if you use their preferred mail order provider “RightSourceRX”, your co-pay is “0″ for a 30 or 90 day order for Tier 1 & 2 generics.
  • Tier 2 is only $5 at the Preferred Retail Pharmacies, and $0 copay for mail order.
  • Tier 3 is 20% Coinsurance -Retail or Mail Order.
  • Tier 4 is 35% Coinsurance-Retail or Mail Order.

  1. Like the others above, we will be leaving Humana when we check out other options. Our monthly premium also more than doubled – my husband uses hardly any prescription drugs and mine are not very costly.

    • Same here – they switched me from an affordable Walmart plan to a premium plan that is 4X the cost. I take one medication. Insurance companies are scrambling to figure out how to survive.

      • I was switched to a Premire plan at over double the cost without being informed of Humana dropping the Walmart PDP. I was told I was sent a letter informing me and the change was made due to lack of response. I had them confirm that they did not inform me but they also indicated it’s too late to change as the deadline was expired. I will be dropping Humana as soon as I file a complaint to medicare.

    • We are in the same boat. I take no meds. , my husband takes two. Doubling our premium is ludicrous. I am looking elsewhere.

      • Have you found a better policy? Humana tripled my premium and I take 3 generic meds. Very low cost on meds but premium is outrageous

    • I just found out that my premium for Humana Plan D increased from $26 approx to $57. My original plan started at less than $10 a month and each year has risen. I just found out that Humana made the decision to change me from Walmart Humana to Humana which is more expensive. They did the same thing to my sister-in-law only her plan after Jan was supposed to go up to $67. She phoned Humana (not an easy task) and told them to return to the Walmart Humana plan which they have done. I plan on calling them this week. I would think it illegal to change me from a plan without my permission. We shall soon see.

  7. I also will be leaving human, unless they become more transparent re: their less expensive plan. Received a call from Humana. When I told him we would be out next year, he told me about the $13 plan and that he would email or otherwise send plan details. So far, nothing.

  8. Unscrupulous bunch of bean counters. Several times they have changed things that have cost me large percentage increases on generic drugs, WITHOUT NOTIFICATION. Once they removed a drug store from their approved list causing a large increase in cost. This newest scam…100% monthly premium increase is just their last in a series of misleading scams. Shpuld be put out of business.

  9. From NC. Just found out my Humana part D increases from 30 dollars per month to 61 dollars per month. With horrendus effort I changed to the 13 dollar plan by way of phone call to Humana. It required 3 hours on the phone and dealing with 9 people. Now I learn that I could have made the change using medicare.gov. Humana made this experience the most unpleasant that I have had in buying and changing insurance.

      • I have an interesting one. I mailed a money order for 6 months payment. The payment was never credited to my account. Now humana wants more money. Found out the money order was cashed. Insurance agent blames me for sending money to the wrong place. That is impossible since the address is preprinted on the coupon booklet and shows thru the envelope when it is sent. I’m having the insurance commissioner in my state look into this.

    • I take care of my brothers Medicare and insurance plans and what a nightmare. All we tried to do was change to the Wal Mart Rx $13.20 a month plan, which would have saved him quite a bit of money for the year. I have now contacted them 3 times trying to get this straight, but it’s still messed up and my brother is needing refills soon and it doesn’t seem like they care. Humana is terrible. Instead of debiting his checking account $13.20 for the change to the WalMart RX plan, they still deducted $57.90 for his part D Humana plan. Now, it’s about time for the money to be deducted again and I know it will still be messed up. Guess, I’ll call again today, which is # 4. I think they do this crap just to have us give up and leave it as it was and continue on with their expensive plan. I’ve already have a headache and haven’t even talked to them yet. Wish me luck.

  15. my plan also doubled, I made 7 phone calls today, 3 of them to different Humana agents, I got disconnected! I have to change to a lesser plan. It is just not acceptable that I cannot just make this change without going through so many people.
