Humana Walmart Prescription Rx Plan – Part D

Humana Walmart Prescription Rx Plan – Part D

Humana and Walmart have teamed up to offer seniors a Humana Walmart-Preferred Rx Plan (PDP) with the lowest premium for a Medicare Part-D prescription drug card in the country.  The premium is only $18.50 a month.  Humana and Walmart can provide momentous savings on your prescription medicine costs.  This plan is available to most Medicare beneficiaries, including seniors and people with disabilities.  Humana is a stand-alone prescription drug plan with a Medicare contract. Other pharmacies are available in network.

“One of the primary goals of health care reform is to make health coverage more affordable – and that’s what we’re doing with the introduction of this low-cost Medicare Part D plan,” said William Fleming, PharmD, vice president of Humana Pharmacy Solutions. “People are more likely to take the medications prescribed for them when they can afford those medications. And adhering to prescription-drug regimens can enable people to be healthier and prevent future illness. At Humana, we believe that this prevention helps people live healthier lives and achieve lifelong well-being.”

This drug card makes a GREAT addition to an affordable Medicare Supplemental Insurance Policy.  Remember if you already have a Medicare Advantage plan, then it will probably already have your Part-D benefits included!

This drug plan covers more than 1500 generic drugs, it was designed with you -the senior in mind, to save you money. You will pay the lowest out-of-pocket when you fill your medications at a Walmart or Sam’s Club store.

There is a $320 Annual deductible for all drug tiers.

  • Tier 1 preferred generic medications are only one dollar co-pay for thirty-day supply at Walmart or Sam’s Club. Incredible as it may seem, if you use their preferred mail order provider “RightSourceRX”, your co-pay is “0″ for a 30 or 90 day order for Tier 1 & 2 generics.
  • Tier 2 is only $5 at the Preferred Retail Pharmacies, and $0 copay for mail order.
  • Tier 3 is 20% Coinsurance -Retail or Mail Order.
  • Tier 4 is 35% Coinsurance-Retail or Mail Order.

  1. A class action lawsuit should be filed against Humana for changing participants Plan D without their consent.

    • I agree that a class action should be filed…. this is absolutely fraud from Humana Pharmacy and it’s got to be illegal.

    • My Walmart Humana doubled at the start of 2020. The supervisor said they Emailed me the notice of change in September 2019. So I assumed I had just accidentally deleted it and have been paying the doubled amount $63 all year yet have never used it.

So I’ve been waiting to change it before Dec 15. And you know what. It’s the end of October and I’ve still not received the Notice of Change as required by Medicare. So now I’m pretty sure the supervisor lied about the notice last year. Who knows what the price will be next year. But I’m not waiting. Will call both Humana and Medicare tomorrow to cancel and report.

So it is a bait and switch. Walmart to Preferred without notice. Definitely need Class Action.

  2. I also have been fighting Humana when they changed me to Humana Premier Plan and jacked price from $26 to $56 and I researched Walmart plans and found a Humana Walmart for $13.20 and phoned in on 10/23/2019 to change. On phone with “part time housewife” agent who screwed up my home address. I checked on 11/5/2019 to check and agent brushed me off with if you have a application reference number it is ordered.Address screwed up and sent email to agent on 11/26/2019 and I thought corrected. NO NO NO. i JUST SPENT 1 1/2 HOURS today and now they say too late to change and threatened me with Medicare increase if no part D(had since 2009). Mentioned lawyer and got a supervisor. Any body heard of a class action against Humana for deceptive practices?

  3. My Humana RX plan doubled from $30/month to $60 month. The only notification I got was the letter telling me about the new price. When I called, the customer service rep told me they had expanded their tier 1,2,3,etc to include more costly drugs, and that was the reason for the increase. They claimed they had sent me a notification about the price increase but I am certain they did not. After talking to an independent sales rep, her opinion was they have gotten rid of over 100 staff members and probably going to sell the company. I am contacting my local representative on Area Agency on Aging to see if I have any other options since open enrollment is now closed. I consider this to be a unlawful, since they did not notify me about doubling the price. If I can change it, I certainly will as this is a huge hardship on my meager social security income.

  4. I also was surprised to discover that both my 2020 plan and my husband’s 2020 plan had doubled from $28.00 to $52.00 without my consent. I had no idea this was going to happen. Then in February 2020 we received notices from Humana that we owed two months worth of premiums. This surprised me because the premiums were always taken out of Medicare. When Humana was doubling our premium rates I was either sent nothing or something that didn’t explain the extent of the price raise. However, when we owed them money the message in the letter was loud and clear! Something needs to be done about this fraud. I am sending letters to Humana, Walmart, the Better Business Bureau, AARP, AMAC, and the ACLU.

  5. Same thing happened to me, charges more than doubling. I did not catch on till examining my social security details. Also into 2020 and could not change back to lower rate. Humana rep. says can not do anything until Aug. which would then apply only to 2021. What a rip off. Difference of $27.80 to $ 58.60 X 12 for my wife and myself. And we have very few prescriptions, most likely won’t go past deductible. Would appreciate any help.

  6. Before I changed from a really good Part
d Plan, I talked to an agent from United Healthcare and this Plan with Walgreens was given to me in terms that were too good to be true but, I still signed up and boy did I make the biggest mistake!!! I have had trouble getting my meds, Plan says I have to try other meds first, all come up over $400.00 per month. Nothing was ever said about a deductible but now I have all sorts of meds that I have had to bug my DR. to change and I still end up paying much more than I can afford. This is a bad plan for me, hope you really sign up with some other plan that treats you right. Im 89 years old and I really feel like a fool falling for all these fake claims.

  8. Humana increased my PartD premiums to $65/month from $30/month, without my consent. When I called to inquire and advised I received no advance notice of the increase, Humana alleged that notices were sent to each insured. Humana also alleges the increase would pay more for my prescriptions. Since I have been on Medicare for 15 years, I have had one generic prescription, a 90-day supply of Simivastin at $4 every 90 days. Humana is charging me a premium of $65/month for a prescription I pay $12 for every month. I refuse to pay the increased premium, and Humana continues to bill me although I have only used $12 of prescriptions for 2020.

  13. So glad to see others not happy. This is my first and last year with Humana anything. I have a supplement plan and need to purchase a Part D plan separately. This one was recommended to me by our Health Insurance Agent. I can not get any pricing for drugs no matter where I look on their web site. All they want me to do is purchase through their mail order pharmacy. I like my local pharmacy. I started using GoodRX and my cost have lowered significantly on some drugs. They seem to push generics which in some cases may be OK but, with all the extra filler in some the potency of the drugs change and you end up having to take higher doses. Not Good. As far as I am concerned Humana is worthless.
